67 Fun with Elf on the Shelf Ideas

This year, all the kids are obsessed with 67. Moms, Dads, and Teachers everywhere are confused and annoyed by this trend. We've decided to embrace it and incorporate it into our Elf on the Shelf this year. We've been posting daily ideas on our social media accounts on YouTubeFacebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Follow along here or there for more fun ideas. As always, we earn commission from qualifying clicks and purchases on social media and Amazon. I added Amazon links to help lighten the burden of the craziness and stress of Elf on the busy parents are feeling, but this is more about fun than anything else.

Your Teacher Trying to Figure Out 6-7

We are all about Halloween in our home. Anytime we can incorporate that into other holidays, it's gonna happen. Teachers everywhere are dealing with 67 all day long. Some don't even understand why. This is a fun take on their frustration. We used the Elf Mates elves, a life-size skeleton, and a blue wig to bring our idea to life. Here's an Amazon link to the wig and a link to the skeleton if you are interested.

You are caller 67

This is a fun play on customer assistance calling. The elf has been on hold so long that he starts falling asleep. We used one of the new Elf Mates elves for this post. Here's an Amazon link if you are interested.

Thing 6, Thing 7, Thing 67

Thing One and Thing Two remind me so much of Elf on the Shelf; we had to include them in our fun. We used a Grinchy monster doll for this post. Here's an Amazon link if you are interested in adding him to your holiday fun.

Let's Play BINGO

Bingo was a no-brainer idea for 67. B6, B7, and O67 are the perfect calls for Bingo fun. I wish I had a fun Bingo game, but we lost ours in our home fire a few years back. Amazon link to the one on our wish-list. For the post, we got our Bingo cards from myfreebingocards.com (no affiliation) and shrunk them down to size. You can download the entire game and play with your kids in the full-size version.

We just used a standard hole punch for the Bingo markers.

Counting Sheep

I have wanted to do the Elf counting sheep for a while now. What a perfect opportunity to incorporate 67 into the slumber fun. The Elf gets to 6, 7, then starts to drift off, repeating 67, 67, 67. I drew the sheep and uploaded the image to my computer, where I added the numbers and made additional copies. The fence is made from 3 regular-sized popsicle sticks and one smaller-sized stick to give the illusion of distance.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 CRUNCH!!

Tootsie Pops were a big part of my childhood. We were always looking for the shooting star and the Native American. I loved the cute commercials with the owl and turtle counting licks to get to the center.  The Elves only make it to licks 6,7 before CRUNCH!  Here's an Amazon link for Tootsie Pops if you are interested.

How many elves does it take to change a lightbulb? 6-7

The Elves are using the pulley system and all their weight to hoist the lightbulb up. The Grinchy monster is preparing to cut the rope with scissors. We added our cute little toddler elves to make this one extra special. Here's an Amazon link if you are interested in incorporating them into your holiday fun.

Momma Duck lost her babies. Can you help her find all 67?

We have been loving the trend to buy cute minis and hide them around the house for your kids or grandparents to find. We recently hid mini Jesuses around the house for our grandparents, and they loved it. When we saw these baby ducks for so cheap on Amazon, we couldn't resist. Here's a Amazon link to the ducks and a link to the Jesuses if you want to add them to your holiday fun.

See you in 6-7 Days

We posted this 7 days before Elf on the Shelf starts, but you could easily use it for 7 days before Christmas from Santa.

This can't be right. Ugh, everything is 67. Math is hard.

We printed out a bunch of math problems that all equal 67. Added a calculator and some friends to the fun.

67

This is a really simple idea of making 67 out of pipe cleaners and putting them on the elf's hands. The kids weigh out 67 in their hands as they say it, so it's meant to copy that. We used sparkly pipe cleaners to add the holiday spirit. While they don't photograph well, they look pretty awesome in person. Here's an Amazon link if you don't already have some at home.

What Time is It?

Elf sends the kids on an adventure to find that all the clocks in the house are 6:07.

Change all the clocks to 6:07. Take the batteries out or set the alarm/timer to keep it there so the time stays. If you have enough elves place one on each clock.

Chicka Chicka Christmas Tree

Elf brings a Chicka Chicka 123 Tree with a very special number that made it to the top. We cut the numbers out of colored card-stock on our silhouette cameo. We used packing tape to hold the double digit numbers together, and to stand the numbers up on the table. I was the most excited to bring this Elf idea to life out of all the rest.

Jump Rope Song

Cinderella dressed in yellow, went upstairs to kiss a fellow.
Made a mistake, kissed a snake.
How many doctors did it take? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

We used fishing line from the chandelier to hold the baby elf jumping in the air, and to support the elves standing. This was my favorite jump rope rhyme as a child. Do the kids still sing this one? Obviously, I taught it to my kids.

Oh My Heavens
What's with all the
6-7s?

A few different ideas on how to implement this idea. You can really use any numbers cards from a variety of games.

We used cards, dominoes, dice, 12-sided dice, and Bananagrams.

Our family favorite game.

We hope you enjoyed all our fun ideas, follow along our social media for daily ideas or on our blog for weekly ideas. If you liked this post, you might also like our previous posts:

Elfie for Teenagers and Adults part 2

Christmas 2021

Ok, I have all teenagers. They are too old for the traditional Elf on the Shelf.  We aren't following the ideas behind the book either. I wish they were younger, there are so many cute ideas out there for little kids. I thought I would put Elfie out and they would think it was dumb and they were too old.  I was so wrong, they loved it.  I would recommend buying Elf on the Shelf for younger kids, but I got this elf at Hobby Lobby in the ornament Section on sale for $1.85 click here.  It isn't meant to be used this way and is starting to fall apart, it is cute and posable though.

The first year I did it and they actually liked it,  the second year they wanted to do it and took turns,  and we skipped the house fire year. (Here's a link to some of our younger kid elf posts) I wasn't going to do it in 2019,  then I decided it would bring laughter and happiness back into the home.  We didn't get much of a Christmas that year.   So, I spent hours looking up ideas for older kids/adults on Pinterest. (don't you just love Pinterest!).  All of the ideas were either too childish, or too crude meant for adults.   So, I took some of the ideas and made them into my own funny teachable moments.  The kids loved it, so I kept doing it.  Again, all my kids are all adults or really close to being adults. Maybe they just think I'm crazy, but that's ok too.

We've been posting daily ideas on our social media accounts on YouTubeFacebookInstagram, and TikTok. Follow along here or there for more fun ideas.

The toilet.  I flushed to get the side walls wet and got the toilet seat wet. Opened and threw two packets of hot Chocolate with marshmallows all over it.  I inserted a straw into another straw to make a long straw and taped the message to the lid.

Then, I sprayed the seat with water to get it wet.

By morning it looked way gross.

Make sure you dissolve it all the way, I flushed a few times to make sure it went down.  Use your own Judgment on your plumbing,  if this is a good idea or a bad idea since your plumbing is different than mine.

Boys are constantly trying to show off their muscles for the ladies at the gym.
It's really funny when I take my girls to the gym and the guys all try to show off for them.

This one is a little crude, ok a lot crude. But it's kind of an inside joke because someone at the store was wearing a shirt that said it,  then made an inappropriate comment to us.  You would not believe the inappropriate things adult men say to teenage girls.  So,  I had to tease them.   We had a conversation about what to do when this happens,  because it happens a lot. Especially at their retail jobs.

He had a very large mustache!

Getting MAD with some Mad Libs
We bought this adult Mad Libs on Amazon for some humor at the dinner table.  Kind of a conversation starter.
It's around $4 on Amazon.

Wheel of Misfortune
Ok,  in our home there is a divide on politics,  so this is just meant to be funny and tease the Biden supporters.  We had some pretty funny things making fun of Trump on April Fools day so we equally tease.

Snowman Down

Who Yo Man?
Fifty Shades of Grey
or
Fifty Ways to Pray

Update: I came downstairs,  and apparently my daughter picked her man. All my kids are at the dating age, and yes one is actually dating an LDS return missionary.

Chicken Fight

They're sitting on rooster/chicken salt and pepper shakers.  A chicken fight is generally when you sit on someone's shoulders in a pool, etc. and try to knock the other person off.

Jurassic Elf
It's supposed to be the scene where the lawyer gets eaten while sitting on the toilet.

The girl and the paleontologist are hiding behind the Ford Explorer,  which we actually already had. When I was setting it up, I saw my daughter's tropical yoga mat and thought it was the perfect backdrop.

Magic Elfie
Check out Elfie's dance moves.

Ok this one is really basic. I couldn't get my printer to work and it was really late at night.  So, this is what I came up with.  It's an idea from when you used to see people's name and numbers written inside bathroom stalls.  My kids didn't get it. I guess nobody does that anymore.  I told them when I was a kid often times childish people would write the name and phone number on the bathroom stalls to get revenge at them.  I guess it was more common before all the caller ID.  I talked to them about being careful of the things people to do when you breakup with them.

Elf Planetarium
Free Viewing of Uranus

Elfie sees Santa mooning him through the telescope.

"You don't have to worry about Santa replacing you with Bambi, Rudolph I took care of it!"

The blood is red sugar sprinkles.

Your mom waiting for you to do your laundry!

CSI

Birthday Elf
Elfie stole the birthday girl's car, parked it crooked. Hit two garbage cans knocking them over,  and the cones.  He then painted Happy Birthday and It's My Birthday on the windows. He put a happy birthday streamer on the dashboard, and confetti all over inside the car.  He left a card and a minion friend behind.  The balloons didn't make it.

Pivot! Pivot! Pivot!

My daughter keeps singing
"I want an 👽 for Christmas"
I couldn't find an alien anywhere.
It's too late to order one.
So, I made one!
Two balloons tied together
Crinkled paper for its limbs
Sharpie for the face

Evolution or Creation
My dad always said dinosaurs came from another planet when God created this one.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it's a Dinosaur Nativity-Mary, Joseph,  and baby Jesus.
We always do one about Jesus on Christmas Eve.

Have a Merry Christmas
See you next year

Check back tomorrow.
