Halloween Clown Wreath

First off, I'd like to point out this is the first decorative mesh wreath I've ever made. So it's definitely not perfect!

I love it!

I had so much fun making this wreath.  I had seen some similar wreaths come across my Facebook feed in some of the crafting groups I follow, and I was dying to make one.  You can use any clown face you can find online.  My daughter is really into Stephen King's  IT and IT chapter 2, so we decided on the character of Pennywise.  You can either print out a Pennywise picture online onto cardstock and laminate it or use a Pennywise mask for the face.

You'll Need:
 a standard wreath frame
six rolls of  6"X5 yds. red decorative mesh
two rolls of  6"X5 yds. blue decorative mesh
four rolls of  6"X5 yds. white decorative mesh
red, blue, and white pipe cleaners

*Mine is really full and thick.  You can alter the amount of decorative mesh you use depending on how thick you want your wreath.  You can also make the strips longer or wider if desired.

I cut the decorative mesh into 8" strips.
I found it faster and easier to roll them out on top of each other and cut all the rolls at once.
I just used a ruler and craft scissors since we were still in our rental house after our house fire without any of our crafting supplies.  It might be easier and faster if you use a cutting mat.

I didn't want to ruin my scissors cutting the pipe cleaners, so I borrowed some cutting pliers from my husbands toolbox.  I cut the pipe cleaners in half, but you could possibly get away with thirds.

Decide where you want each color on the wreath.  I began with red on the inner ring.  Depending on the look you're going for, you could start on a different ring.  Start by folding the pipe cleaner in half, then twisting it twice around your wreath frame in the desired placement.

Get three of your cut pieces of mesh and tie them together on the pipe cleaner on the wreath frame.

Repeat until your about 2/3 way around the frame.

Finish the ring with the white Decorative mesh.

After the wreath is fill completely around with the red and white, move onto the blue.
The red signifies the clown's hair.
The white signifies the clown's collar.
The blue signifies the clown's clothes.

I decided i just wanted a hint of the blue.
I used two pieces of decorative mesh instead of three.
The used the pipe cleaners on the outer edge under the white.

I did put a white piece between the red and blue to keep them seperated by the collar.

Once you've filled it in the desired amount, turn it over and fluff it the way you want it to look.

Now you're ready to attach the face.  I chose to do the laminated card stock face.
I just tucked the face into the decorative mesh and hot glued it in place.

Pretty Creepy!

I personally like to use command hooks to hang my wreaths.
If hanging on siding I like to use siding hooks, command hooks don't stick great to siding.

We'd love to hear how yours turned out, or any tips and tricks you have to improve our design.
